Project Overview
For more than 25 years, J. Furphy & Sons has worked side by side with Acquos, a family-owned Melbourne manufacturer of acrylic polymer emulsions and redispersible polymer powders. It started on a greenfield site in Campbellfield, where we designed, engineered, fabricated and delivered Acquos’s original vessels, including a spray drier.
We’ve supported the plant through years of upgrades since. Recently, we worked together again on new set of vessels for an expansion to triple their production capacity.
The Challenge
Acquos is Australia’s only maker of redispersible polymer powders, and its products are built on drying and dispersion technology they developed themselves. Growing that kind of operation means getting the equipment right. The new tanks had to fit into a working plant, suit the existing site layout and help streamline processes. Acquos needed a partner it could trust to own the job from the first drawing to the final delivery, with no surprises along the way.

Our Solution
We led the tank design from the start, working closely with the Acquos team to find the best set-out and orientation for the new vessels on site. From there, we handled the engineering, fabrication and delivery under one roof, keeping the project moving, and sorting out any issues quickly as they came up. Because we’ve worked on this plant since day one, we knew how it ran and what Acquos needed top get the job done right.
